Unexpected
Oh life. How crazy, fun, unnerving and unpredictable you are. How many unexpected swings you throw at us to make it living more interesting! Case in point: Yesterday it was raining cats and dogs due to the remnants of tropical storm Gaston but I had to take my daughter to the university so we left earlier than usual to avoid traffic. I could barely see due to the storm so while going down the mountain, inadvertently I drove into a huge pothole in the road. The car hit so hard, I felt it in my bones. From there, the car was wobbling like crazy but I kept going. I was scared to death due to the accident and the rain but my daughter could not miss her nursing class and even if I wanted to turn around and go home, the traffic jam was unbelievable
Driving home was another odyssey. The car started making noises beside the wobbling, it was around 9:00 pm and it was raining. Excellent conditions! So we had to wait until morning before inspecting the damage. Well, after removing the front right tire, we noticed that the wheel was bent and deformed. My hubby decided to replace both so the look would be even, so we agree and headed to Pepboys. The tech noticed that the back one was also bent, so to replace both was a wise decision from the beginning. Not cheap, but it needed to be done. We selected the rims, and those came with special lug nuts and wheel locks, so we had to buy those too
Anyway, after 3 hours at PB the car was finished and the sucker has now new rims. One of the techs told me to take pictures of the damage and the pothole in question and demand payment from the county, because they would pay me, but forget it. Too much hassle. I’ve heard horror stories about the waiting for compensation and it is not worth it
Here’s a picture of the damage rims and the ones I bought. Yes, they are black, but they look cool

BTW, I’m always confused about wheels and rims so I found this on Ehow.com
What Is a Wheel?
Some of us may be confused when it comes to the different parts that make up the wheel of a car. What is the center, where is the rim and what does the tire have to do with anything? Or, like others, you may think that a wheel is a wheel and that’s that. While a wheel is considered a part of your car, it’s actually made up of different parts. These mainly focus on the center, the rim and the tire itselfDifference Between the Wheel and the Rim
The rim and the center of the wheel are often confused. Remember that the center and the rim together make up what is commonly known as the wheel of your car. The wheel itself is not a part of the car, but the result of a combination of parts, namely the rim and center. The center of the wheel is the silver part in the very middle of your car’s wheels. The hubcap can be found here. The rim is the circular strip that goes around the center. The center is connected to the rim, and the tire goes around the outside of the rim. Once you get these parts together, you have a car wheel
